Well . . . What next?

Yesterday was my final day in the classroom (we won't count if I decide to sub).  It has been a tumultuous week.  The awards day Wednesday with my kids was probably the hardest.  Yes, I cried through the end.  Friday, our last day, was too hectic to cry until the very last few minutes and then the kids and I cried together.  Some of them hugged and didn't want to let go.  I didn't either.
My first "project" is to finish this adult coloring book I have started and get it to the publisher.  I would like to see that happen.  I may not sell one of them, but that is okay.  It will be the fulfillment of a dream.  Then I really want an online or Facebook store to sell my art work.  I don't know where to begin there (suggestions welcome).  But that is at least a plan.
The inchie word is koala.  I have never seen one in real life, but would love to.  They look so adorable.  Australia is one of the places I would love to see.  I doubt I would ever get to, but who knows?
Joey's letter was T this week.  I should have made it stand for tired!  One of the things we have to do the last day is to move all - yes ALL - furniture into the hall.  I am somewhat sore this morning.  It is however done!  For the final time!  I used the tangles tipple, tamisol and t &e.
I have to work 2 or 3 inservice days this coming week.  Mostly paperwork.  Oh fun!  Monday they are going to have a retirement luncheon for me - that is going to be even harder than saying good bye to my kiddos.  These people are like my family.  Then on Tuesday I go to a county wide retirement breakfast - that doesn't bother me.  I am not as close to those guys.
Our weather is beautiful but oh so hot!  If this is our May weather what will July be like??? Yikes!  Thank you for dropping by and saying hello!

Five more days!

Five more days - at least with children.  Then 3 or 4 inservice days.  I can't wait.  I dread it.  How can I be filled with 2 very different emotions at the same time.  Very conflicting feelings.  Thank goodness for art time and the relaxation and get away it brings.
Our inchie word was "flamingo".  I am reminded of those pink plastic ones that can sometimes grace yards.  Can't say I like those.  Once when we were in Florida and went to Cypress Gardens we saw a field full of the real kind - absolutely gorgeous!
Joey's letter was S this week.   I used sandswirl, side-eye, and sxc-rolls.  I was new to a few of them, but hey, I needed s tangles!
One of the coloring groups I belong to on facebook posted a challenge to use one color only to do a picture.  You could use pencils, paint, markers - whatever, just one color.  I went to my Color It dog coloring book and chose a patterned French Bull dog.  Then I used my pencils, markers and gel pens to color with.  This was actually a lot of fun!  I may have to try something else this way.
Okay - that's it for this week.  Take care and have a wonderful weekend.  The weather here is lovely and for once no rain - yahoo!!

To bee or not to bee

Okay, the title is corny.  But I could not come up with a catchy title and that was the first thing that popped in my head.  This time of the year with all that is going on I am surprised that anything popped in my overloaded brain!!
As you may have surmised Every Inchie's word is "bee".  While I don't care for the little beasts I do recognize their usefulness.  I have had some nasty experiences with things that sting - wasps, hornets and the like.  Once my brother and I were mowing our grandparents' yard.  He was in the front and I was doing the back.  We were separated by a hedge so we couldn't see each other.  I finished and still heard his mower running, so I stepped around to see how much longer he had.  There sat the mower - still running - and he was no where to be seen.  So being the potentially bossy big sister, I went over and grabbed the mower to "take over and do his job correctly".  I took hold and started to move when I was surrounded by a swarm of bees or wasps or something stingy!  He had mowed over an underground nest greatly disturbing the occupants and then took off running.  I had no idea and quickly gave the bees another target!  Not a pleasant experience!  My stings had stings!!!
Oh well, here is my bee and he is so sweet he would not sting a soul!
Made by Joey's letter was R.  We are almost through the alphabet!  I used the tangles rysa, r2, and ringeli.
Well, it is off to . . .  hmm, I am not sure.  I think I shall do some watercolor painting today.  Or draw.  Or color.  Either way it shall be creative.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend!  See you soon!

Inchie Butterfly and the Letter Q

I have had a super week!  For this time of year and for the week after testing (which usually means the kiddos think it is o.v.e.r.)  they have been so good and worked so hard.  It is weeks like this past one that makes me realize how much I will miss them.  Of course that fact has nothing to do with retirement.  When I spend two years with a group (we loop), it gets very hard to let them go.
The inchie this week was a butterfly.  I had fun with this one.  I decided to let it drift out of bounds rather than confine it.
The only other challenge I may it to this week was the alphabet challenge for Made by Joey's.  It was the letter Q.  There are not a lot of tangles (that I like) that begin with the letter Q.  I had to use Q-belle for the challenge.  So I just added Queen's Crown.  It is not particularly one of my favorites.
I have done a lot of coloring this week.  Nothing complete to share though.  I hope you have a wonderful week-end and thank you for dropping by!

My Very Special Lady Bug

When I think about lady bugs (the inchie word for this week), I think of Susie (not her real name).  Because we "loop" I have had this group of children for almost 2 years.  You get very attached.  Or at least I do.  Susie has some very severe emotional problems.  On a normal day she is one of my best students - smiling and so very loving.  Then there are the other days.  Something or someone stresses her and she changes drastically.  If we are lucky she shuts down and just will not communicate, pulling herself into her hooded coat and totally leaving us behind.  If we are not lucky, well that is a very different story.  She throws chairs.  She fights physically if you touch her.  She destroys whatever she can get her hands on - worksheets, crayons, her own clothes.  Once she threw herself into the floor and began to draw over about 2/3 of my classroom floor with crayons.  It looked somewhat like Jackson Pollack had been my student!  Since Christmas of this year, she has had what I term as "mini-melts".  She is controlling it so much better and recovers quicker.  There have been times I simply went home in tears.  During it all, she and I have had a very special relationship; we love each other.  I took to calling her my "lady bug".  So my inchie this week is for Susie, my very special lady bug and one of those I will really, really miss next year.  Wish I could share her picture - just picture curly black hair and huge brown eyes and a super smile, when she connects with you!
Made by Joey's letter was P.  I used pea-fea, pea-nuckle, and piza.  I decided not to color the whole tile because I couldn't figure out the best way to color the background and not lose the letter.
Diva's challenge was to use a stain or spill as part of the string.  I don't drink coffee or tea so I went to the paints to get my liquid.  I used my water pen/paintbrush and splattered some blue paint on the student sized tile.  Then I took some tissue and blotted it to sort of spread it a bit.  I also outlined my splatters.  The rest is just tangling.  I think I got my shading a bit dark, but not terribly I guess.
I am looking forward to a "normal" week at school.  Last week we did our state testing which - may I on record of saying - is ridiculous.  The stress it puts on all involved is awful.  The fact that I have a group of kiddos who have made tremendous progress but it will not show because we are not on grade level is frustrating.  My classroom is built around a smaller model and meant to teach at their lower level.  However state tests do not appreciate that.  Either way, I am just so glad it is over.  I pray my class does well, but in all honesty I just don't know.
I hope you are having a great week.  My mantra is "twenty days" - but who's counting?!

Feeling the pain!

My classroom has nearly 40 years of "stuff" packed into various cupboards and filing cabinets.  In other words lots of things to go through and sort and pack.  My principal gave me the chance to take a few personal days but come in and get started with this chore.  He suggested field trip day and field day - days that the kiddos would be out of the room so I could more easily work.  Very nice suggestion!  So yesterday as my class went on a field trip, I waded through a part of my things - whew!  I emptied my desk, and unloaded two file cabinets.  And torched my back.  I could hardly move last night and this morning wasn't much better.  On the positive side I did accomplish a lot (yep, a lot to go still).
The inchie this week was crow.  I can't help thinking mine looks more like a black parakeet, but it is going to have to work.  It is the best I can do.

The tile for Made by Joey was the letter O.  I used the tangles O2, Ol-birdee, and olin.  I guess I must have been inspired by the wonderful sunshine we have been enjoying.  I love this weather.

Guess I need to go and do something - like some more drawing . . .  Also time to get my carrot cake cookie bars out of the oven.  If you care to try them, I found them here.  I have never made them so they do not come with a recommendation . . . yet.
Thanks for dropping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Second post this week, yikes!

I just finished up some making some birthday cards and decided to go ahead and post my last few things.  I worked on the Diva challenge.  We had to use the tangle, frunky.  I also used maran.  Then added some color.
I also finished up my latest coloring page.  It is from ColorIt's Mandala 2 book.  This one reminded me of Easter.  It usually takes me several days to finish a coloring page.  I take my time and shade and fiddle with every detail.   This one took me 2 days, but I am home a bit more this week.
Guess I will head out and maybe tangle some more.  See you later and have a good rest of the week!

Sunshine and sleeping late!

I am soooo enjoying my spring break!  This schedule suits me just fine.  I do sleep late - about 10 in the morning.  But wait, before you judge me - I also don't go to bed before 3 in the morning.  I am a night owl.  I get my most creative work done in the wee hours.  So really my late sleep is not so late considering.
I worked on my inchie first - parrot.  I really saw it as more realistic that it turned out.  Oh well!  It is pretty nice either way.

Then on to Joey's challenge #159.  I used natti, nesting, and  nzeppel.  I also only colored the letter this time for no real reason.  Maybe because the next things I worked on meant a lot of coloring.

I love the way the gems look that so many people are including in their art work.  So naturally I have to try them too.  I borrowed an idea I saw on line (of course) and made a garden of gems.  I think I am getting a little better, but I am no where near the work of what I have seen.  I will get there, I hope!

Last I just colored.  I love this new interest the world has in coloring books for adults.  I loved coloring as a child and it hasn't changed.  I got this book, Mythical and Fantasy, by ColorIt.  I love their books.  If you haven't tried one of them, you really should.  They are very high quality.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!  I plan on working on my coloring book for a little while this afternoon.  I hope to have it ready to publish by summer.  Hopefully.  See you later!

Yahoo! Spring Break begins!

After school yesterday, my principal came by the room.  I was sitting there finishing up a few things and waiting on my ride.  He poked his head in and said that this was the last spring break I would have - enjoy!  Hadn't thought of that.  But it was a very nice thought.
I worked on several challenges this week but didn't have time to post til now.  The first one was my challenge piece for Made by Joey - the letter M.  I used the tangles Mi2, matu, measles, and miander.

The inchie challenge was to do a peacock.  I really would have loved to do that fantastic array of feathers, but could not seem to make it work.  At least not for me.  So mine is a bit more subdued.  In my searching for a pic to reference, I found out you can order a baby peacock to have as a pet!  I thought that was interesting.  Do they make good pets?  I haven't a clue.  They seem like an unusual pet for sure.

Gems have taken over the tangle world.  So naturally I have to play with them.  Later on today I plan to work on a tangle page with some gems.  This time I only used one for the Diane Clancy challenge.  We had to use tangles that begin with the letters DEF.  So I chose diya, emigle, flipdown-l, and floral waves.  I really am pleased at how the pink gem turned out.

Diva's challenge was to use the tangle noom.  I also used 5C aura.  I wasn't sure about noom to start with, but I found myself really enjoying the flow of it.

Guess I will go and do something else for the day.  Just got a cake out of the oven, all sugar free ingredients so that is nice!  It looks really yummy!  Ahhh, chillin!  Thanks for dropping by,  see you soon!

Thirty-five, but who's counting???

No sadly, (or maybe not), 35 is not my age.  It is the school days until my retirement.  I am officially getting excited.  There is still a lot of bittersweet feelings.  People I will miss.  Things I enjoy doing.  But . . .  I find myself thinking more and more about what I am going to have time to do.
Oh well, on to inchies!  This week the word was "woodpecker".  With my passion for cartoons, I had to choose Woody!  I grew up with his mischief.  And of course that crazy laugh!  So here is my famous woodpecker this week!

Made by Joey's letter was "L".  I chose to use the tangles leelee, lichen, and Lisbon.  This was a fun tile to work on.  I used some tangles I had never really worked with before.  I may have to use them again soon!

What another alphabet challenge?  Yep.  Over at Diane Clancy's site.  We needed to choose tangles that begin with the letters ABC.  I had already started the page in my journal / calendar and was very happy with how those green shades looked with the black.  So I drew my tile in between the swirly things.  Well the thought was good but I could not work out the tangle I originally wanted to use.  Made a rather good mess in fact.  What to do?  It is in my calendar - I cannot will not tear it out.  I really got frustrated.  No zen in that moment.  So I grabbed a black pen and blotted out all my goofs!  Then used gel pens to draw new tangles over my "black" tile.

Thank you for dropping by and visiting!  I hope you have a very blessed week.  In one week I have spring break (a whole week) and I cannot wait.  See you next week!  Hugs!

Good Morning!!

I hope this post finds everyone in good health and a happy place!  I am feeling great this morning.  I had a pretty good week at school with the kiddos - I do wish they would focus a bit more, but behavior was good.  I had my last evaluation with my principal, no more worries about how that will go each time.  And mailed the last of the retirement papers.  Yes, a good week.
I also had time to tackle a few challenges.  I did my inchie first.  This week's word was "heron".  I really liked how this guy turned out.  Sorry no cartoons this week.
Now on to Made by Joey's challenge - the letter K.  I have to do all of these because I am so linear I simply cannot leave out a letter.  I used the tangles - kiss, kali and kismet.
It has been ages since I have completed one of Adele Bruno's challenges.  I love them.  There just isn't always enough time for all I want to do.  Imagine that.  But I did it this week.  I used my Carole Ohl calendar and since I did it on the 17th, it just had to be green for St. Patrick's day.
Well, now off to make some birthday cards.  I have 3 birthdays coming up and I had best get rolling!  Thank you for dropping by and please have a blessed day!

Feeling a bit "Daffy"

Can you tell from my inchies I was part of the Saturday morning cartoon generation?  Those good old cartoons that made you roll in silly giggles.  No heavy ecological lessons or such, just laughing.  Note I did not say violence, because I did enjoy the Roadrunner cartoons and honestly I kept pulling for that poor Coyote!  But for those of you who aren't familiar with Daffy Duck or just want to have a chuckle, check out this link - Daffy Duck cartoons.  Here is my inchie to go with the cartoon -
Actually most of the week, I seemed to have the same expression on my face as Daffy did!  Kind of a "how do I get this group ready for state testing ???" look.
Made by Joey's challenge was the letter J.  I used the tangles jellyroll, jubel, and jambalee.  I also used some glittery gel pens because . . . well, no reason, they were pretty!
Diva's challenge was to use the tangle amphora.  I was not very familiar with that one.  I wish I had been able to keep the movement I was looking for  but place the rows closer together.  Oh well, it turned out pretty good.
Friday was an emotional day.  It was time for our principal to bring around our forms to fill out for our "intent" for next year.  My intent is to sleep late, and create for hours.  That wasn't on the form.  So instead I had to mark I wouldn't be back and also write a letter of resignation.  Oh my.  I (probably foolishly) cried as I wrote.  I am a person who does not like change of any sort, even the good ones.  So this was a milestone for me.  One would think I am not happy, I truly am.  I am just uneasy.
We had a beautiful week, weather wise.  Temperatures in the low seventies and sixties.  Pleasant weather.  I stress this because tonight it is predicted we will get 1-3 inches of . . .s . . . n . . . o . . . w.  I cannot believe it.  Surely someone is wrong.  Now, I really did want one beautiful, "go outside and play" snow before winter was over.  I did.  But now that the flowers are blooming and I am not having to wear a coat, come on spring!  What is this snow word creeping into the scene??!!
Thank you for dropping by and I love your comments!  Pretty soon, I will have time to comment on posts too!  Just you wait, you will get tired of my posts!  Hugs!

That’s a joke, I say that’s a joke son

Just in case you don't know who said the title to this blogpost, head over to this link - Foghorn Leghorn cartoons and have a few minutes fun watching this rooster in action.  He absolutely cracks me up.  The Every Inchie word this week was "rooster" and who better than old Foghorn to help me out.
Made by Joey's letter was I.  I had a bit of trouble finding other tangles that started with an I (that I liked).  But here it is.

I even made it to Diva's challenge #305.  This was a duo challenge using marasu and molygon.  I really like marasu, but molygon not so much.
This has been a long week.  Lots of things going on.  We missed a day in the middle of the week due to the threat of storms - fortunately nothing happened around here.  I feel blessed for that.  I also did not mind the "extra" day off.
Ahead of me is lots of packing and cleaning my classroom.  Sorting through nearly 40 years of stuff is overwhelming! I like most people in education am a "packrat", saving things from probably my first day of teaching.
Have a wonderful day and see you next week!

H is for Horse

It worked again!  Made by Joey's challenge to fill an H string with H tangles worked perfectly with the Every Inchie word - horse.  Neat, huh?

I used the tangles hollibaugh, hamadox, and hypnotic for the H tile.  I also really like the idea of using color for this challenge.  Gives me another chance to play with the colored pencils.  I got a wonderful set for Christmas so I have them out whenever I can.  They are by ColorIt and are really nice.  I may decide to spring for a set of prismacolors as my retirement present to myself, lol!  I like the huge color selection.
Diva's challenge #304 couldn't have made me happier.  I really love the new tangle waybop and that is what she challenged us to use.  Along with a little verve and this was fun!

The last one for today was a calendar section I just started to play with.  There was no plan, just playing with some tangles, old and new.  I couldn't resist a few little lady bugs.

I had a wonderful day at school today.  The kids were really being quite cooperative and that always makes for fun.  I hope your day is going well.  Take care and thanks for dropping by!

Une Vache

Or cow in English.  That's the inchie word for this week.  Cows have such sweet and gentle faces.  Particularly baby cows.  Here is my entry for this week.  I am not sure she looks so sweet, but I think she is cute.
Made by Joey's letter is G.  I kept mine simple again and used the tangle gnarly (this one was the one we had to use) and golanas.  Gnarly turned out okay, but even so it is not going to be a favorite for me.  To me it just doesn't seem like a "tangle" for some reason.
The last product of the week for me was Diva's challenge - a Valentangle!  I used watercolors and painted a tile - pinks, reds and a touch of blue.  Then when it was dry I added some valentine tangles.
I have another 4 day weekend.  I think I am getting spoiled.  Friday was a personal day for me.  I haven't ever taken many of those (sick days either).  I hate being absent.  But with retirement coming closer, I will "lose" my personal days if I don't take them.  So I am going to take a few.   And Monday was President's Day.  So I have another long weekend!  Yahoo!
Thank you for dropping by and I hope you are having a wonderful day!  Hugs to you all!

Beautiful day!

I am in a great mood!  I have attended a retirement conference and am moving forward with that.  It is really going to happen.  I have filled out social security so that is going to be coming soon.  Our school system was closed for the next two days due to illness.  Not only are the kiddos sick but teachers are too and subs can't be found.  Seems even in this computer age they can't do without us, yet.
I also just got two different facebook messages about purchasing some items from me!  My goal (dream) is to have a small business for retirement.  I want something to keep me busy - active.  And yes of course a bit of crafting cash wouldn't be a problem either.  When I get it all set up I will put it on this blog so you can drop by and say hello!  Keep your fingers crossed I actually make a sale!
The inchie word this week is pig.  I thought of Charlotte's Web and Wilbur.  My brother suggested Napoleon the pig from Animal Farm.  And of course there is Porky!  My pig is none of the above really, just a cute pink pig!
The Diva Challenge was to use the tangle hamadox.  I had not tried this one before but I do really like it.  It has such a swirly fancy feel to it.
Made by Joey's challenge was the letter F and the tangle, festune.  I also added fat-x and feather touch.
Yesterday my furbaby turned 9!  Where does time go?  I just brought him home from the pound a few moments ago!  He has turned into such a wonderful dog.  He was quite a rowdy puppy and there were times we questioned our sanity for going with a puppy.  Prior to him we had a 19 year old dog.  I had forgotten how much work a puppy could be.  But it was fun.  And he is so special to me.
No flash, please, I am trying to sleep!
Thank you for dropping by.  I hope you are having a very blessed day!  I am really envious of those of you who have snow.  I think winter is going to pass us up this year.  Feel free to send me some!

E is for Eeyore!

Okay the inchie word is not Eeyore.  It was donkey.  But he is my very favorite donkey.  He's so sad and lovable.  I just want to pick him up and find a way to make him happy.  So for my inchie (donkey) I used Eeyore.
I honestly don't have any donkey stories. . . This is one critter I have never owned.  But I wouldn't mind having one of those mini ones.  They are just so cute.
The alphabet tile is for the letter E.  Didn't that work perfectly with Eeyore?!  I wonder how many more weeks will fit together this way?  I used the tangles el prado and emingle.

This has been a rough week.  I am hoping for some rest this weekend and a better week coming.  Our school has been hit by the germs this past week.   Strep, the flu, bronchitis, you name it!  For three days this week I have only had a dozen kids in my room!  Hard to push on with missing that many.  I went in most of the week feeling really bad, but getting a sub is next to impossible.  We had 13 adults out on Friday alone.  I really hoping for wellness this coming week!
Thank you for dropping by and I hope you are having a great weekend!
