Twenty days and counting . . .

Yep.  I have twenty days left of school (with children and 4 more work days).  This year has flown by.  The last few days will too.  At least in some ways.  When I look at the list of things that must be accomplished before I lose my kids - whew!  I can not see how I will do it.  I know I will, but  . . .
And in the midst of it all, I must do my art work or go nuts.  It brings me a few moments of zen and peace.  I worked first on the Roman numeral challenge for Made by Joey.  This is the number IX.  Makes me wish I had thought of leaving negative space around the other numbers.
Then I worked on the Diane Clancy challenge.  The letters were JXT.  I chose the tangles - JJ, X2 and Tootsie Moon.
Every Inchie Monday's word this past week was "poetry".  I could not make up my mind what to do here.  It took several days of thinking.  But here we go  . . .
The last item wasn't for a challenge or anything.  As I am sure you know the musician Prince died this last week.  I liked his music, not one of my absolute favorites but still one I enjoyed quite a lot.  However a teacher at my school is crazy about him.  She was "in mourning" as she put it when she found out.  I decided to do her a small gift.  So I took an apprentice sized tile, did the symbol he used for a while, tangled and then added some purple.  Actually I really like this.  However I will give it away tomorrow morning.  This teacher is the daughter of a teacher I used to work with a long time ago.  She is just like her mom - kind, caring and really energetic.  She has been a real asset to our school.
Thank you for dropping by and saying hello!  I hope your week is wonderful!!

Today is just what????

It absolutely has to be Friday.  There is no way it is only Wednesday.  I knew this week would rough since I would have to go to getting up early again, but had no idea it would be soooo tiring.  It has been a  little easier because the kids are being so good.  I love this class.  They can be stinkers, but hey, we are only second grade.
The Every Inchie Monday word was fish.  I went to my ephemera books, found a fish and used markers for the background.  Not really fancy, but I do like it.
I also worked on the Roman numeral challenge for Made by Joey.  This was string number VIII.  I can't wait to see the page completely done.  I will post it when I finish.
Next I worked on the Facebook challenge.  We had to use cruze and whatever else we chose.  I wish I had my list here, but I can't remember the names of the other tangles.  Either way the center attraction is cruze.
Diva's challenge was called "globular grid".  I really enjoyed putting the grid type tangles on the circular (globular) string.
Well, twenty seven more days until summer break.  Hard to believe.  The really nice thing is because we loop at our school, I will (hopefully) have the same crew.  Maybe a few new ones or some losses, but pretty much the same.
Thank you for dropping by.  I hope you are having a wonderful day!  See you later!

Last day of spring break

No.  No.  No, I can't get up at 6:00 tomorrow morning!  Please don't make me.  I was just telling Ray, that I love my job.  Don't even mind at all getting back with the kids and the teaching deal, but why do we have to get up at 6???  In case you haven't guessed, I am not a morning person.
Spent some time crafting the last few days (no surprise there).  I had to get some birthday cards made for faculty members.  I always give everyone on our staff a card for their birthday.  I have for years.  It is a tradition with me.  It is also an excuse to play with my cricut!  Here are the ones I did for the April birthdays - several of them are Pinterest inspired.

The next cricut project was to finish a Mother's Day shadow box.  I want to take this to school and hopefully sell some.   If you are interested, I would be happy to ship one.  Just leave your email in the comments and I will contact you.  The roses are handmade and can be any color you would like.
Every Inchie Monday's word was grandmother.  I really wanted to have a picture of my grandmother, but alas no ink.  So I went to an ephemera book and cut out an old fashioned looking lady.  Not my grandmother, but it works.  If it counts, while working on this inchie I did lots of reminiscing about my two wonderful grandmothers.  They were very different and very wonderful.  One I spent every weekend with and was delightfully spoiled rotten.  The other I was blessed with getting to know better before she passed away.  I just wish we had had more time.
The roses in my mother's day box are inked.  I needed a place to put them on while doing this so I used a spot in my sketch book.  The pink looked so pretty and I couldn't waste it so I drew a tile around the pink and used it for my Diane Clancy challenge number 51.  The tangles are queasy, eighthundredeightyeight, and R2.  Then I added some tiny pink flowers - well, just because.

This last piece has been in progress for several days.  I just decided to play around with some new tangles and some old favorites.
There we go!  Finished for a while.  Now I really have used all my excuses and must do a tiny bit of school work this afternoon.  Even if I would rather draw or craft.  And I would.  Thanks for dropping by and I hope you are having a wonderful day.  Please do consider a shadow box or share with someone you think might like one.

Spring Break!!

It is so lovely outside even though we may have a shower this afternoon.  I am 5 days into my break and so happy to be at home.  I needed this "down" time so much.  Of course two days were spent dealing with the refrigerator.  One day Ray and I took off the doors to the old one and moved it to the front porch.  And in the moving some sort of water thing (that we were unaware of) decided to spray and leak everywhere!  Mid day shower!  We got that one carried off and now have a new one.  It is a really pretty Samsung two door on top with the freezer on the bottom.  I love it.  It certainly is better than that dormitory fridge we were having to use.
Then we went to get groceries.  Everything in the old one was lost.  I did not realize how hard it was to replace those small things I don't usually but each time.  But it is stocked for a short while.
I worked for awhile on some challenges yesterday and still have a few to go.  The first one I did was one for Made by Joey's Roman numeral string.  I had done string VI but didn't post it in time.  So here is strings VI and VII.  Remember they are all on one page so that is why you see some ragged edges.  I will post the whole thing when I have all 15 done.
Next stop for me was the Diane Clancy challenge #150.  The letters we had to use were HSO.  I  chose hepmee, steampunk flower, and orb on the move.  I worked a space larger than the normal tile. I just filled a page of my journal.

Then I worked on Diva's challenge to use the tangle fassett.  I was in a mood where I really did not want to do much thinking or planning, so I just fill the entire tile with triangles.  I thought at first to leave some empty.  Then I decided to put paradox with a brown pen into the blank spaces.

I think after I get this post up, I shall pull out the cricut and get some birthday cards made.  I have 8 to do for this month so I better get rolling.  I also have a framed piece I want to do to see if I can sell some of them for Mother's Day.  I will show a picture of that when I get it done.
Thank you for dropping by and I hope you are having a very blessed day!
