Every Inchie Monday - peanut!

I missed last week.  I did the inchie, door, but I didn't post it.  Shame on me.  I meant to.  Really.  But where did that week go???  So here - even though late is last week's inchie for the word door.

I worked very hard and got this week's ready to post because I am so linear I cannot stand being late.  Silly I know.  This week the word was peanut.  Another memory flash if you will bear with me.  Downtown Greensboro, N.C. used to be where we had to do any shopping - no malls, yet.  So every year we would go downtown to buy our school clothes.  One of mom's favorite stores, Belks, was right next to the Planter's Peanut store.  This store was a very narrow store, maybe 3 to 4 people wide at best.  Of course the aroma was divine.  The air was filled with peanuts.  We always had to go in and buy Daddy a bag of mixed nuts.  But my favorite was the giant statue out front of Mr. Peanut.  I loved that thing and always looked forward to seeing him.  Weird, huh?  Okay, on to my inchie.

Thanks for dropping by and saying hello.  Tonight I need to finish up a baby shower silhouette.  Stop by and check it out in a day or two.  They are really popular and I love doing them because they are personalized.  Bye for now!

Time to Tangle!

I can't look at the letters for Diane Clancy's challenge #49 without seeing the word lazy.  In fact it was so ingrained in my mind I nearly added a tangle that started with an A!  But I caught myself in time and only used the ones with an LZY - lollywimples, zonked, and y-chain.  Debated on color but finally decided not to.
Made by Joey's challenge to use the Roman numerals as strings is a lot of fun.  I am filling up a journal with these strings.  Here is numeral 5 (V).  Pardon the bits around the edges but it is hard to scan in that close to the object.  I will show the whole page again later on.
I have missed a few Diva challenges and honestly thought about skipping this one.  Shattuck is not my very favorite, but admittedly I had a lot of fun with this monotangle.  It got to be a real challenge how I could vary this one.
And finally an Easter Egg for Adele Bruno's challenge.
I hope you are having a lovely Easter weekend.  The weather here is very nice, a tad chilly but at least it is not raining.  I think after getting some more tangles for my notebook I may pull out the Cricut and make some cards.  I am running low on birthday cards.  I try to keep several made up in advance.  Thanks for dropping by and have a nice day!

An Interesting Week

There ought to be a law against a week having 20 days instead of the usual 5 work days.  That is what mine has felt like.  I have a precious child who is fighting some pretty strong emotions - lots of anger.  It has broken my heart on how to help and I just want to make it better.  Of course that is not at all possible - I haven't the know how.  All I can do is pray and hope for the parents to find some more qualified help.
I zenned a bit this weekend.  I finished the "Touch of Irish" for Diva.  My tile turned into a large celtic knot and then just added some green.
Next I worked on the tile for Diane Clancy's challenge.  We had to use tangles with the letters TPD.  I chose to use tellis, twile, puf, and diosea.  Again a little more color.
Now I have to put some grades in the computer and then work on some of the Easter Eggs I sold.  That will be fun.  I also have to make a paper lady bug for a very special child.  Thank you for dropping by and I hope you have a wonderful week.

Every Inchie Monday, Made by Joey and Easter Eggs

What a combination!  Let's see where to begin.  This week's inchie was island.  My first thought was one of my favorite poems.  We have poetry notebooks in my classroom to practice fluency with.  We get a new poem each week.  One of my favorites is If Once You Have Slept On An Island.   I love this poem.  I think it would be so much fun to have my own island - wouldn't have to be large, just private.  Ahhh  . . .
I think you probably would not be the same if you had slept on an island.  At least I wouldn't.
I also worked on the challenge for Made by Joey.  Remember we are doing a Roman numeral challenge.   This week was the number IV or 4.  I can't wait to see what the whole page will look like!
I also decided to work on some plastic Easter eggs to try and sell.  I am sort of late with this, but I will have something ready for the next holiday.  I was pleased with how it turned out.  I would love to find something to sell to help out with finances and since my Cricut is one of my favorite toys, why not?  I have a few good ideas for Mother's Day.
If you might be interested in one, please send me your email address in the comments and we can work out the "how to's".  I could not begin to send with the candy, but they are $7.00 personalized plus what ever I find out postage would be.  I am not too sure of that.    I sold them around the school for 10 with candy.
Guess I had better get busy on something more productive.  Now what should that be??  Relaxing in my easy chair???  Seriously, thank you for dropping by and I hope you are having a wonderful day!!

Yeah! Diane Clancey's alphabet challenge is back!

Back in the "old" days, I remember walking to the mailbox and checking each day for something exciting - a letter, a catalog, anything really.  As a child I loved getting mail.  Mom gave me all her "junk" mail.  I guess for awhile, I may have thought my name was "occupant".  It was always such a disappointment when that box was empty.  I sort of felt the same these past few weeks when I would wander over to Diane Clancey's site.  I love the alphabet challenge and when it wasn't there, I felt my childlike disappointment all over again.  So I was tickled pink when I found it up and running yesterday.  Yahoo!
We had to use the letters, A#X for our tangles.  I chose arabel, 8sams, and xyp.  I had so much fun with this and really needed some zen.  It has been a very emotional week.  I have a beautiful child in my classroom - who I adore, that has a very severe anger problem.  We can't see it coming and some issues have happened this week that have been rough for them and their classmates.  I just want to help and I seriously do not have a clue how to help.  So I needed some calming zen for me.
I hope you are having a wonderful day.  Thanks for dropping by.

Made by Joey

There is a neat challenge going on over at Made by Joey's site.  We are doing a different Roman numeral each week as our string.  We are doing 3 this week (or rather III).  I am doing all mine on one page, so you may see parts of others around the edge.
I have had a wonderful day today.  Lots of sunshine and smiles.  I won't go into detail, but it has been a rough week with one of my kiddos.  Today was much MUCH better!  Thanks for dropping by and I hope your week is sunshine and smiles also.

Every Inchie Monday - spaceship

Blast off!  Here is my inchie for this week.   Not a lot of tangling time for me between playing with my Cricut and making cards and playing with my classroom's new chromebooks.  Every child in my room has a chromebook to use now.  It is mega exciting and I am having as much fun as the kiddos.
Thanks for dropping by and I hope you have a nice day!!

A 10 day week

Seriously, it has to be longer than just 5.  I mean a field trip on a soaking wet day, parent conferences, report cards and brand new chromebooks for my entire class.  No way will that fit into 5 days.  Besides I am at least 10 days worth of tired.
The inchie word this week was towel.  I used colored pencils to create a nice fuzzy bath towel.  (I am thinking Calgon, take me away!).
The challenges for Made by Joey are based on Roman numerals.  I missed posting last week's number I even though I did do it.  This week was number II.  I decided to go a bit smaller than the normal tile so that they all could fit into my sketch book.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope to post again over the weekend - if time permits.  Have a wonderfully blessed day.
