Days 265 - 270 - Oops! Another Massive Art Post!

I really enjoyed the week I posted more frequently.  It is much easier to link to one or two challenge sites, rather than soooo many.  But this was a busy school work week.  Who am I kidding, they all are!
I totally love Every Inchie Monday.  It's tiny.  It is a challenge.  It is one inch of fun!  For this week's challenge, day 265, we had to do an inchie for the word "myth".  What is more of a myth than Loch Ness?  Well, maybe Bigfoot, but I didn't want to draw that one.
Day 266 - That's New to Me challenge #38.  We had to use the tangles with the letter Z.  I chose to use zola, zabbixz, and zen-ex.
I love Maryhill - that's a tangle by the way.  It is so peaceful to draw.  For the Tangle Me 3 challenge we had to do the original version and at least two variations.  I chose to make my variations more of a size and shape.  The circle is the original.  The others are the variations.  Here is day 267.

Adele Bruno got tough with her string challenge.  Well, at least to me.  I even asked her to do a tutorial or hint page for the tangle hamail.  It looks simple.  And really pretty.  Except when I do it.
Day 268 and the string challenge #111.  To celebrate the number of the challenge, we had to do one string, one other tangle we liked, and the tangle hamail.  After worrying with hamail, my other tangle was simple and loving little "keeko".
Day 269 was time for Made by Joey's monotangle challenge.  Peanuckle was the tangle she chose.  I love this one but seemed to be in a real hurry tonight for some reason.  My zen was missing!
This past Wednesday (day 267), I went to the cardiologist for my routine check up.  Pretty good report - watch the stress (yeah, right) and cut back a little on my salt.  Overall not a bad visit.  To "celebrate" I went next door to Hobby Lobby and purchased some Shrinky Dinks I have been dying to get my hands on. I had to wait til week-end and day 270 to get to play with them.  I used part of a sheet to cut a tangle size tile and do Diane Clancey's challenge and also count it for Diva's challenge.  Diva had asked us to tangle on something different - this certainly was!  Diane wanted us to use tangles that began with the letters LDG.  These are pictures before I did the shrinking.  Also are some others I tried.  I wish that my shrinking had turned out a bit better, but I will get it.
Dex, luna, diamant, golven, lamar
Guess I better go get all these pieces linked to their places!  Here we go!  Have a wonderfully blessed day!

Hammermill Paper review

If you need some high quality paper at a good price, you need to check out this paper from Hammermill.  I have tried it on my laser printer and was very happy with the results and I also used it - I was in a hurry - on the inkjet printer.  It worked great both times.  I like the brightness of this paper and how smooth it feels.  It prints at high quality even at a dpi of 2400.  I think I could use it for printing photos with good results as it has a photo quality feel to it.  Add to that it is acid free.
It comes in reams of 500 sheets.  It can be found at shoplet.com along with lots of other great office supplies.
Also use Shoplet.com for other office and home supplies, such as janitorial suppliesmedical supplies, and office furniture.

Days 261 - 264

Adele Bruno had an interesting string this week and some good tangles to use.  I chose not to use one of them, only because it didn't seem to fit.  I used antidots and n'zeppel.   Of course I will use n'zeppel any chance I get.  I love that tangle.  Then I used some color and made "lime-ade"!  Here is day 261.

I don't think I have ever used the tangle meringue.  So when I saw it was the choice for Square One's challenge, I almost didn't go it.  I decided to draw a tile in my journal and at least play with the tangle some.  It was sort of like eating a potato chip.  I couldn't draw just one. Or two.  Or three.  They took over.  With each one I tried to make it more like some of the beautiful examples I had seen. I ended up really having some quick fun with this challenge for day 262.

Day 263 (that was Saturday) I worked on the Tangle Me 3 challenge #13.  We had to play around with the tangle love line.  My favorite variation is the one that only uses half of the design.  Sort of funky looking, I think.

All week I have been trying to get to Diane Clancy's challenge - CD#.  Finally for a few minutes before I did my school work, I did this tile.  I used 4mom, 100, camelia, cross'd, diamant, deelish, cylan, and dream dancer.  Quite a bunch for day 264.  I like the patchwork effect.

Now.  I have put off the unavoidable enough.  I have to settle down and finish the plans for next week.  I just can't seem to wrap my head around some changes I need to make for my reading group schedule.  I now what I want, I just don't know how to organize it.  I love my class, but they are not the most independent group ever.  Vast understatement.  They can't do anything on their own.  Or at least they think they can't - they need a lot more confidence.
Have a great day and thanks for dropping by!

Day 260 - Stars and Stripes

Well, not stars.  But definitely stripes for Diva's string challenge.  I liked working in stripes so this was loads of fun.  I decided to just use tangles from Suzanne McNeill's new book 11.  Limiting myself made me stay away from tangles I over use and try some new ones.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Days 258 and 259

Every Inchie Monday's word was rhythm.  I found some vellum with music printed on it and them added a quick embellishment.  And of course, hummed while I did it!

For Made by Joey, we had to use the tangle oke.  I don't think I really have the flow of this one.  I did it, but I am not really very happy with it.

I finished up the That's New to Me challenge.  For the letter T I used the tangle "twisd".  It is from my new Suzanne McNeill book.  Then I chose three Sandra Strait tangles to use - zanella, crossroads, and centrifuge.  I love her work so it was a hard choice.

Guess I need to keep it short since I have some other school work to do.  I hope you are having a very blessed day.

Day 255 - 257 - Weekend!!

Day 255 - I am so glad it is Friday!  I took a few minutes to work on Adele Bruno's string challenge.  I loved this string and the tangles she told us to use were just perfect.  It looked okay in black and white, but I just had to add color!
Day 256 - Yesterday was September 11.  It will always be such a shocking reminder of how vulnerable we can be.  I remember 14 years ago.  I was waiting for a class to come to the art room and my principal came over the intercom.  He said we might want to turn on our televisions if we had a few moments.  I turned mine on and had no idea of what was going on.  As I began to understand I stood in shock and tears.  I called home (isn't it funny how when there is a crisis the first of our thoughts turn to the safety of our home?) and Ray turned the TV on in time to see the second tower fall.  For days we were glued to the television.  It shook my feeling of safety.  Then again this summer when my city - Chattanooga - experienced the loss of the six military personnel.
Today I sat down in my journal and did this picture.  I like how the eleven was center stage on this page.
Day 257 - Today is Sunday.  The air is crisp and feels like fall!  I love everything about fall.  The colors, the flavors!  My favorite season!  this piece is for Diva's challenge - to use the tangle canT -  and also for Diane Clancy's challenge to use tangles that begin with the letters SPC - canT, puf, signalz, and snugz.
I hope you are having a wonderful day!  Blessings to you all!

Day 254 - N'zeppel

Challenge #77 for Made by Joey is to use my absolute favorite tangle in a monotangle - n'zeppel.  I love that tangle.  It is so . . . elegant and fun.  My tile is pretty simple, but I usually do my plans for school on Thursday nights.  So simple is fine by me.  Besides, I use this tangle whenever I get the chance.  Which is usually a lot.

Guess I will head off to work now.  Can you believe I have actually posted nearly every day this week rather than waiting for a mega post on the week-end?  I am happy with that.
     Have a wonderfully blessed day!!

Day 253 or what to do with a major goof!

I had a few minutes this afternoon while supper cooked and I thought I would work on the New to Me challenge.  This is challenge #36 by Suzy Mosh.  I love these because it forces me to use a tangle or two that I just put in my notebook and conveniently forgot.
I decided to do my tile in blue pen.  Just to be different.  Looking through the notebook, I found the tangle y-flip by Helen Williams.  I loved the look, but something about those wazy lines freak me out.  But I decided to give it a go anyway.  I drew my wavy lines across the bottom and proceeded.  Proceeded all wrong that is.  It was not even close.  Since I draw my tiles in my sketch book, throwing it away was out of the question - there was a tile on the top of the page I liked.  What to do!!?  Take a blue marker and cover it in a sea of blue.
Then I went over to Helen's site and studied her step-outs.  Really hard.  I decided on taking a white gel pen and trying it again.  This time I think I got it.  As my confidence grew I ventured out into the white space.  I added a bit of Margaret Bremner's "yoga" to the side and voila!  I did it.  Now no one knows what sort of mess lies beneath the deep blue sea . . .

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Days 251 - 252

Yahoo!  I have Monday off of school.  I am so happy.  So what did I do with my day - cut some things out for my bulletin board.  Silly right?  Well, that is fun work for me.  When I finished I worked on my inchie for Every Inchie Monday.  The word for the week is "ear".  Could have gone the usual thought but decided to think about food.  A nice buttery ear of corn for day 251.  It sounds delicious, but it has been about 12 years since I have had corn of any sort.  It plays nasty with my blood sugar so it is on my do not touch list.  Oh well.  I honestly don't miss it all that much.

Back to work today - day 252.  I got my bulletin board rearranged.  I had to add a whole additional group.  But I think I finally have my math groups the exact way I want them - I think.  This afternoon I worked on Suzy Mosh's Tangle Me 3 challenge to use lealad.  The whole tile reminds me of a wallpaper sampler.

Thanks for dropping by!  I hope your week is off to a really good start.  So far mine is!

Days 244 - 250! Seven days of creativity!

I was so happy to get a small little post done last time.  So easy to write, so easy to link up . . .  I had great plans to do each day this week.  See where that went, don't ya?  School work just took over.  I took a few moments each day to draw, but taking the time to scan, write and link to challenges was just too much.  Maybe this week I will do better.  Either way, guys, it is going to be a long post, sorry!
Day 244 - The Tangle Me 3 challenge (#11) was to use the tangle ionic.  I had it in my notebook, but never really played much with it.  It just didn't appeal to me.  I never saw where I could make it fit.  But that is what a challenge is all about, isn't it?  After an extremely rough day at school, I needed some tangle time so I persevered.  Know what?  I really like this tile.
Day 245 - Adele Bruno's string challenge #108 was an interesting string this week.  I used printemps, lanie, and cubine.  I always love the 3D effect of cubine.
Day 246 - This tangle - maryhill - fascinates me.  I love the way merely using straight lines can produce such a different effect.  It is usually worked in a circle, but I decided to try filling the whole tile with it.  This was for Made by Joey #76.
Day 247 - Open House tonight at school.  I had a huge parent turn out.  I always love to meet the parents and touch base with them.  However I came home a bit tired.  Got a new book in mail which perked me up some, Suzanne McNeil's Tangle Book #11.  I got to use the tangle ideas in the book for my challenge for Diane Clancy's alphabet challenge, UBJ.  I used unyun, up and across, burst, and japonica.
Day 248 - I finally came up with an idea for Diva's challenge to use the new tangle zenith.  I love the tangle and have used quite a bit.  Here it is with heart divided and fescu.
Day 249 - Square One's weekly challenge was to use the tangle inapod.  Since I had recently done a tile featuring that one, I almost didn't play along.  I decided to to just keep it simple.
Day 250 - I put the finishing touches on this past week's hodge podge of tangles.  I lined off my pages to resemble a quilt and throughout the week I add tangles I might use in challenges.  Sometimes I just add ones for fun.  So for today's creativity exercise, I finished this page (about two boxes really) and now I will get creative with lesson plans!  Oh fun!
I hope you are having a very blessed day!  Thank you so much for each and every comment you leave - I love hearing from you!

Day 243

What's this?!  A post that isn't a week long!  Amazing.  I finished up school work today with time to play.  Yahoo!
First I worked on my inchie.  The word for the week was necklace.   I trimmed up a paper cutout and added a jeweled charm.

For the New to Me challenge we had to do a new tangle that begins with the letter x and use a tangle by artist Judy Murphy.  I chose the tangle, X, and starawn.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you have a blessed week.
